SERVICE KIT CARRY CASE
Design and production of 10x carry cases for service technicians standard service kit.
A rebuild with retrofit replacement relays to keep costs down (original relays no longer produced and available only at an uncomfortable premium). Replacements with uncommon 2xNC + 2xNO and matched force-guided contacts for identical electrical safety behavior.
An industrial product that acts as a co-processor for automation systems. It is configured with data sources and mathematical formulas using a built-in webserver over Ethernet and collects data from external devices using Modbus over Serial and Ethernet. Calculations are performed with IEEE 754 double precision and delivered over an M-Bus link to the host automation system.
A low-cost capacitor bank designed to replace organic aluminum polymer capacitors with ceramics for extremely high ripple current. The capacitor bank is 1000µF, 50V with an ESR of 5mOhm (tunable) with a peak current capability of over 2000A and a maximum production cost of €10. The circuit in which it is used intermittently charges and discharges the capacitor at approximately 50kHz, which no existing capacitor was able to withstand.

LED EYES FOR TUNGEVAAG & RAABAN
Construction of programmable LED inserts for 3D printed DJ-mask by Drafts & Design.
Flexible PCBs designed to conform to a curved 3D surface with 48 nano-sized, individually programmable RGB LEDs for each eye - all controlled by a NodeMCU for interfacing with a cell phone over WiFi.
RE-FABRICATION OF CONTROLLER FOR HYDRAULIC LIFT
The electronics of this and many other old industrial machines like it are wearing out and starting to break down. To avoid breaking certifications we manufactured a series of identical boards, including the sourcing of original components that had been out of production since the '70s. The new boards now keep the system running without the need to install a modern PLC system which would have been been a very expensive solution requiring reverse-engineering, programming of replacement PLC logic and re-certification of the system.
DSp designed the electronics and software for this small, battery operated, sound effects generator. Focus was on high sound quality given its small size, as well as very low energy consumption, as the device is battery operated and spends most of its time "sleeping" between waking up at regular intervals to play sound effects from an SD card.

Our client had a significant number of four-port laboratory valves for fluid and gas transport. The valves were old but fully functional - but information on how to drive them, as well as the original electronics, had been lost. Replacing the valves themselves would be very expensive. We researched the valves and constructed a number of these boards to interface between existing RS-232 equipment and the valve motors and their feedback optics to accurately position the valves according to simple external commands.
RE-FABRICATION OF CONTROLLER FOR HYDRAULIC PRESS
The original electronics from an industrial hydraulic press had failed due to old age and previous repair attempts had only been able to prolong its life for short periods each time. DSp reverse-engineered (with permission) and re-engineered the control system to produce a drop-in replacement board with modernized and much more rugged components. The PCB was manufactured in house allowing us to get the machine back in service very quickly.
KIT BOARDS FOR KIDS
A series of boards designed for CoolMinds as part of their electronics education offer.
The boards were designed with focus on ease of assembly, having extra large pads and educational silkscreening.
Branding of the boards was done by converting the logo for tin plating + silkscreen as well as color matching of the solder mask.
We developed the ZenScape system for interactive or passive installations.
Each lamp senses proximity, acceleration and rotation and provides light and sound output.
Highly configurable for a wide range of installations indoors or outdoors.

This is our universal motor driver (DC, DC with encoder, stepper motor, three phase) for small motors.
Has exceptional interfacing capabilities (I2C, SPI, UART, Classic RC servo, Futaba RC servo, Analog, Digital) and a very fast, precise and fully capable (jog, relative, absolute, synchronized) trapezoidal motion planner.
Watch the video of the board running some very rapid stepper motor movements.
The clock is moving backwards - we actually had to slow down the movement to be able to catch it on camera.
INTELLIGENT RS485/USB INTERFACE
Typical same-day-delivery project. This is a programmable interface between USB and RS-485 that allowed the client to quickly interface with various RS-485 systems for development purposes. While the device can act as a simple bridge between USB serial and RS-485 the programmability and on-board microcontroller allows the developer to also implement code to manage the strict timing requirements of certain protocols.
REMOTE CONTROLLED CAR
We designed the remote control system and mechanics for this Chevrolet Captiva for an advertisement video.

We crafted and programmed these two panels, designed to imitate the look and behavior of various electronic devices. Used in the filming of the movie "Väster om friheten" by Anagram.
CONTROL PANEL
Control panel with ethernet connectivity for remotely controlling motion systems.
Features analog joystick and high resolution rotary encoder, direct access to important parameters as well as remote connection and position save/recall. The LCD menu system provides access to parameters of lesser importance as well as network and remote device set-up.
We designed and assembled this spherical circuit board.
The design is a second iteration geodesic sphere and each segment has an "intelligent" RGB LED.
Contained inside is a battery back, microprocessor and accelerometer.
We constructed this replacement control panel for an industrial hydraulic press, as the old panel was in bad shape.
The panel was constructed from sheet steel and designed to attach on top of, and preserve, the original panel.
A small slot was machined into the original panel to allow an IDC interface cable to be attached.
Motorized potentiometers require a bit of effort to interface properly, thus we adopted our motion control IP to a smaller and cheaper processor and designed a backpack board to all do the heavy lifting.
The board interfaces using SPI, I2C or UART and apart from the obvious read/recall functionality we also provide detent emulation, spring modeling, inertia and other configurable force feedback possibilities.
This is an experimental low-cost mechanical construction of a micro-sized CNC-controlled diamond blade cutter that we designed to cut arbitrary electronics strips and various other materials - all based on an open source embedded vision system coupled with our own motion control IP.
Watch the video showing motion profiling, the accompanying universal feeding mechanism and careful cutting.
DSp was tasked to construct a four line telephone ringing system for older phones. Telephones are powered by a DC voltage of about 50V and rung by an AC signal of about 100V, 25Hz (Swedish standard). We built this mains connected box with four buttons to handle the task.
MULTI-TOUCH LED-DISPLAY
An interactive LED-display based on shadow sensing (blocked ambient light) for use in an interactive installation where cameras and other means of detection were not acceptable. We designed and assembled this prototype system with LED overdrive capability allowing it to be used in direct sunlight. Sensors are tightly synchronized with LED PWM output such that the LED light does not interfere with ambient light sensing.
This is our design for a system of modular spacers, brackets and clamps that enables you to mount of motorized drives and other peripherals to camera optics of arbitrary diameters and configurations.
All parts were designed, manufactured and tested by DSp before they were sent to the factory for production.
ROBOTIC ARM
This robotic arm had been left for dead, but with some programming wizardry we quickly brought it back to life.
Sadly, the museum installation that this was to be used for never came to fruition.
FLIP DOT ARTS DISPLAY
A speculative project done as an experiment on interfacing old technology with modern electronics. This is an electromechanical flip disc/flip dot display from an old intercity bus that was disassembled and refitted with a modern microcontroller and custom circuit board. Speed was increased nearly 20-fold over the original system allowing us to repurpose the sign - for ART!
F.LASHES INTERACTIVE LED EYELASHES
DSp was a co-creator of Tien Phams F.LASHES - Fun, interactive LED eyelashes Kickstarter project.
We were tightly involved in all aspects of the prototyping, design, electronics, programming and mass production installment for the project. Sadly the project was closed down when low-quality Chinese knock-offs flooded the market with ultra-low cost copies.

RING MOTOR
We designed the electromagnetics, mechanics and enclosure for this ring motor with a central iris mechanism. The prototype was machined and assembled in our workshop. The motor is a three-phase stepper motor with the stator coils acting on a rotor composed of permanent magnets in a Hallbach arrangement.

TRAINING CYCLE STEERING SENSOR
This break-off kit of aluminum parts was designed and manufactured by DSp as an easy to install add-on for our clients already existing training bike product. The kit reads the angle of the steering wheel and presents itself as a gamepad when connected to a PC, allowing a higher degree of immersion into their VR training product. The client previously used the accelerometer in an iPad to read the angle, but had obvious problems when the steering wheel was adjusted to a (near) vertical position - not to mention the unnecessary cost.
ALGORITHMICALLY GENERATED PLANTLIFE
To shorten the design phase of several unique sky-light vinyl prints, we developed an algorithmic approach to generating vines and leaves that allowed us to quickly assemble multiple unique, naturally beautiful but tightly controlled floral designs that were then plotted onto black vinyl right here in our workshop.
METAL AND RUST
A commissioned piece of vector artwork on an old steel plate that we crafted using vinyl cutting and acid etching to produce a thin layer of iron oxide that contrasts nicely against the polished steel surface. The piece was finished by locking the oxide in using a thick layer of carefully applied clear coat that also further accentuates the design.
ROTATING DISPLAY STAND
Design and manufacturing of for a battery operated rotating display stand with configurable speed and an appealing high quality black gloss finish. The parts were cut from HDF and integrates a simple bearing with 10mm metal balls.

ENCODER WHEEL DESIGN
DSp designed an algorithm and software solution to produce and later decode these encoder wheels that enable local homing. The LFSR based code on the rim allows absolute position recovery by reading any 7-bit section, in any direction, anywhere on the wheel, eliminating the need for returning all the way to a preset zero mark on start-up, instead moving only roughly 20 degrees in any direction to recover the current position.
LASER TAG SYSTEM & GUN
This is a laser tag system we designed to connect with your cell-phone to enable open-world laser games. In addition to designing the electronics and software, we also designed and manufactured this one-off prototype grip, complete with a spring loaded battery compartment and a housing for the electronics and optics in the shape of a pistol.
LASER ENGRAVING ON GLASS
These items are the result of our research into glass engraving and cutting. We designed a number of algorithms, processes and CNC machine heads that allow us to score, cut and engrave glass under CNC control. The photographic designs are produced using a special process involving Voronoi maps overlaid onto bitmaps to provide the sense of much higher resolution by generating point clouds that follow the "flow" of features in the original image.
ELECTROMECHANICAL SIGN
For a sporting event, we were requested to re-furbish and re-purpose this old electromechanical 7-segment display using modern electronics and radio remote control. It always makes us happy to see old electronics given new life and as an added bonus - we got to keep all of the spare displays.

SLIDING DOOR MECHANISM
This simple opening mechanism for a sliding double door of a display cabinet was designed using only readily available low-cost parts, machined and assembled in our workshop. It was originally driven by a standard NEMA 23 stepper motor but later replaced with a servo motor to reduce the noise.
CIGARILLO CASE
DSp designed and machined this exclusive cigarillo case with a nicotine molecule engraved on the diametrically brushed aluminum lid. The case closes magnetically and was machined with a specially crafted method to produce a beautiful pearl patterning on the inside of the case, straight from the machine without the need for further finishing.
MAGNETIC NON-CONTACT X-Y TABLE
This is our prototype CNC operated X-Y manipulation table. It uses magnets on a PTFE (Teflon) sheet to provide a chemically resistant, non-contact interface between the mechanics and manipulation surface.
THE "DESKTOP SHREDDER"
A one-afternoon project done for no other reason than pure, unadulterated fun. Also very dangerous - don't do at home!
